You know that moment in life when you meet a person and you never know why, but for some reason you just have that moment, maybe a conversation, maybe just a glance, but you never forget that moment. Sometimes it’s just one of those great little things where you always wonder what would have happened if you ever see that person again, but sometimes, if you’re lucky, you do see that person again, and that moment, happens over and over. That is what I call true love. Love these days is highly under rated, people see it in the movies, in books and if you’re lucky in some crazy old couple sitting on benches in the park or riding their scooters around town somewhere. As a child we learn through society that people live for love and that it’s the most amazing feeling in the world, but no one really knows what love is, they say you will know it when it’s there, but that I think is the problem. Until you’ve found true love, you’re always left wondering “Is this really it?” When you’re young you have crushes, you adore the first person you hold hands with or kiss or even have your first dance, something new is always intriguing and to want more of something so new and so good is at the least one of the most humanly instincts I can think of. When I was a child, I thought I loved a lot of people, I thought my heart was broken and I thought I broke a few myself, as I started getting older, I just didn’t want to experience that anymore, no one likes the thought of breaking someone’s heart and even worse, no one likes constantly feeling confused. I’m the kind of person who lives off of quotes and takes every single one I read into deep consideration and I try my hardest to empathize with the one responsible for these wonderful words of wisdom. Throughout observations and a lot of quotes, I realized that when they say you will know, they were not exaggerating! I then came up with one of my first rules of life, “If it’s important, if it’s a maybe, it’s a no!” Some people might think that that’s a little harsh but when you really think about it, if it’s something important, especially your life, your heart, who wants to settle for a maybe? Even worse than that is when you’ve already let yourself into a situation, then you realize it doesn’t make you as happy as you thought it should, but you stay anyway. Why? Out of habit? Out of pity? Fear of being alone? The answers are endless but really, you’re just waiting for that moment that pushes you over the edge, an excuse to maybe make you feel less guilty but the truth is, everyone is different, people want different things and expressing your feelings, being your own person and independent are some of the most intense feelings you will know, good, bad, they will always be gratifying and more importantly it will always be what you want. No lies, No regret.
